Savage 12 LRP vs Savage 10 Predator 24"

I am going to order one of these two rifles in 260rem and want to know if anyone can tell me if there is any advantages of one over the other. I know the predator has a 2" shorter barrel and weighs a couple pounds less, but I wonder if it has a target crown like the 12 LRP? Has anyone shot both of these that can give me any insight to the accuracy differences? I tried the Savage shooters forum but got 0 responses.

I wouldn't expect any difference in accuracy. I'd pick the LRP for the barrel length and stock. The LRP has the light weight trigger too, which might be a selling point if you like the accutrigger. As far as I know Savage only uses two styles of crown, one for the sporter weight barrels and one for everything heavier, but the style doesn't matter as long as it's properly cut.

I recently got my Mod 10 Predator Max1 in .243. Had it at the range only once to sight in. Used 80 Rem Core Lokt. Nothing special. That is, until I was getting under .5" three shot groups at 100 yds. Can't wait to try ammo with a better BC and further out.

I don't know much about the mod 10 in .260 at least, but I can tell you your going to have a really hard time finding anything on the mod12 lrp in .260 due to savage only having released them at the beginning of this month. I've had my eyes on it since I first saw it on their website and had one on order since december, they just made the first shipment and I got mine yesterday. It does have the target trigger group, I thought it was a target action as well but my understanding all the target models were single shot only and I have a mag. Any ways it seems to be a very well built rifle, unfortunately I didn't plan ahead very well and forgot to order a base too. Hoping to get to the range next week for some break in . I am by no means an expert on lr shooting but I did a ton of research on the .260 and to get the fps I want at the ranges I want 26" is minimum, hoping for an 800 yard dear gun. If your just shooting paper or varmits 24" would be ok, but if your hoping to extend your range for slightly larger game I'd recommend the model 12 if you can find one.

I see them sold only on-line, my local shops only can put me on waiting list and they don't know when it will become available...
