Reloading for a 300 Winchester

I was fortunate enough to buy a 300 Winchester Mag a few days ago. I have a few slugs in mind for reloading. 165 grain Nosler Accubond, 180 grain Nosler Accubond or 180 grain Sierra Gameking. I will mostly hunt deer and elk with this rifle out to possibly 600 yards. Do you guys have any suggestions? All of these slugs offer good BC's. Has anyone used the 165 Accubond in a 300? If so how was its performance on deer and elk?

My load has accounted for 1 Elk, which was flawless performance. That was with a 180 Gr. Accubond. That load was Win brass, a stiff load of RL 25 & Fed 215 primers. I have since gone to RL25 that gives me about 3140fps (26"tube). Many for some reason have found that 75gr. of RL22 is accurate in most 300WM's, just one of those universal loads. This will give you 3,025-3,100fps, depending on the rifle.Work up in powder charge slowly of course.

Nomosendero i have been trying myself to find the right load for the 165 grn accubonds. i have trieed h-4831 sc and r-22 and imr-4350 in my gun it looks like 68 grns of imr-4350 is a one hole round .i tried from 75- 78 grns of r-22 and they shoot well but not like the 4350 .i am shooting a savage 112 bvss. the my max length that will fit in my magazine is 3.500.i have no idea of speeds but i realy dont care im looking for pinpoint shoots.im going to try some 150's myself. i thought about some 180 or 200 but all i shoot are deer and nothing any futher than 400 yards.i hope this helps but im still playing with it myself.i will be trying some more loads when i get home.good luck.

There are quite a few powders that will work well in the 300 Win, but I have come to depend on H-1000 in my 300 Win. H-1000 is very temperature stabile and is very consistnet from shot to shot and lot to lot IME

In the next few weeks I'm going to load up some 208gr AMAX's on Tanks suggestion.

Velocity - 2930fps
One grizz - one shot at 269 yards - Dead!
Thats what my 300 Win mag likes
1-1 1/2 inch group at 200 yards.
