Reload data for Barnes 338 Lupua 300 grain TSX bullets

I just purchased a Savage 110 BA in 338 Lupua. I installed a Night Force 5.5X22X56 NP R1 zero stop scope attached with Night Force Unimount. I purchased dies, 100 Lupua brass and already have adequate Federal 215 primers. I looked all over for some Sierra 300 grain bullets without finding any. I did find two boxes of Barnes 285 grain TSX and purchased them. My problem is I can't find any load data for these bullets. I sent out an email earlier today to Barnes and hope they respond soon. Does anyone have a link to the appropriate data?? I have several slower burning powders already on hand including H1000, H4831, IMR 7828, Reloader 22. In the meanwhile, I found some 300 grain Sierras but they won't be here in time for firearm deer season. If anyone can help I'd certainly appreciate it.

I apologize for the error in the thread title. The bullet in question is 285 grain TSX

I'll respond to my own question; I went to Lupua's website and they actually had load data for the Barnes 338 caliber 285 grain TSX bullets. Unfortunately, they only showed two powders neither of which I have. I'll just make it easy on myself from here on out and Never buy a single Barnes bullet again. A man with 20+ pounds of slow burning powder certainly should easily find data to use with one of them.

I have the 285 gr TSX that I want to try. I'm just going to use H1000. Start at about 89 gr and work up. I shoot the 300 gr OTM out of mine right now but want to preserve them for longrange shots. I am going to have the TSX for under 600 yds.

Re: Reload data for Barnes 338 Lupua 300 grain TSX bullets

It's a fine looking bullet for sure and I predict it would be devastating on game. However, oddly the 300 grain Sierra's are listed as having a higher velocity despite the groves designed to reduce pressure on the Barnes TSX. I thought hard about using the Hybrid 300 Berger and actually found some in stock but visited their website and saw that nose slump bulletin with cartridges of 338 Lupua or larger.

from Barnes website..
Bullet Weight: 285 gr Case Trim Length: 2.714" S.D. 0.356
Bullet Style: TSX BT Primer: Fed 215 B.C. 0.585
COAL: 3.630" Barrel Length: 24"
Case: Lapua Twist Rate: 1:10"
Charge Velocity Charge Velocity Load
Powder (grains) (fps) (grains) (fps) Density (%)
IMR 7828SSC 75.0 2386 80.0 2540 84
Retumbo 78.5 2427 83.5 2569 93
Magnum 83.0 2478 88.0 2607 88
RL 25 78.0 2422 83.0 2572 90
 Vit N170 81.5 2416 86.5 2563 92
US869 95.5 2505 100.5 2650 99
I've never shot any of their 338 bullets yet, but I would suggest the 280LRX--.667bc vs .585. I've been very impressed with the terminal performance of the 7mm LRX.

Re: Reload data for Barnes 338 Lupua 300 grain TSX bullets

I got home today to a pleasant surprise; a Cabelas box was on my porch containing the Sierra Matchkings I ordered. I was unable to confirm the Barnes Load data submitted and they have not responded to my e mails. I'll take that as poor customer service and write them off future purchases. Who wants two new boxes of Barnes 338 caliber 285 grain TSX??
