Re: Rebarreling 7wsm into 7saum??

We're talking chocolate or vanilla here, either way it's ice cream. Personally I don't see anything one has to offer over the other. What is the best brass available for both? I know the Norma I use in my 270 WSM is very good brass. I check neck thickness in new brass and discard any that has greater than .001 variation. The last 100 Norma I went through came in at 96 if I recall.

Re: Rebarreling 7wsm into 7saum??

Post was never intended to debate the merits of one vs the other. I agree there is little difference.

I just want to know how the 7rsaum will feed in a m70 CRF action.

I have access to a 7saum reamer.. I will have to buy or rent a 7wsm reamer and gauges

Yes, that is the subject.
As you already know, one should feed as well as the other.

I think I am spending too much time here. I'm laid up with a back injury, and this is my favorite pastime, now that I will be confined to a chair for a few months. My wife is asking if I have been on this website all day, and I am losing track of the subject.... signing off, but I'll be back.

Re: Rebarreling 7wsm into 7saum??

Have you watched the video of the 3 guys shooting 2300yds. The 7SAUM gets 3 hits in a row where the 338 struggled. However, the 338 can be a lot better or just the same. Depends on the trigger man, load development, and conditions. Personally, I would definitely go 7SAUM if you have access to a reamer. That is the one caliber in 7mm that I truly researched thoroughly between all the different 7mm. The 7SAUM according to research is the best bang for the buck when it comes to efficiency and barrel life.
