Rebarreling 7wsm into 7saum??

Will M70 7WSM CRF action work well with being chambered in 7SAUM?

That should work just fine, the WSM and the RSAUM are basically the same with the RSAUM being a little shorter. Good luck with your build!!

Re: Rebarreling 7wsm into 7saum??

I realize there's not much ballistic separation between the two but I'm planning a long range build and from what I've seen barrel life and brass quality seem to favor the 7RSAUM.

Re: Rebarreling 7wsm into 7saum??

My M 70 CRF in 270 wsm is scheduled for a new barrel soon. I already have a 7 saum so just for grins I slapped a 7 saum empty brass into the M 70 mag. It fed with no problems whatsoever.

It fed so good that maybe I should have rebarrelled the M 70 into 7 saum and turned the Browning into something else.

What are you really looking for? Is your WSM shot out? I don't think see much improvement to be made. Is this a Christmas present to your gunsmith?

Barrel life is most influenced by pressure and powder charge. You're getting longer barrel life with the smaller powder charge. You're also getting less velocity.

What better quality brass are you getting for the RSAUM? All of my WSM brass says Norma on the head. Even my 7mmWSM's.

My 270 wsm isn't jaw dropping accurate any more, so time for a new barrel.

I recently retired 1/2 of my Norma 270 wsm brass for neck cracking...

Just saying...

Re: Rebarreling 7wsm into 7saum??

The barrel is a factory barrel that I want to replace because I want a more accuracy. Ultimately I want an efficient round that doesn't require to much work reloading for.
