Proper Torque Settings?

Proper Torque Settings?

I always hear about proper torque setting, always get someone else to work on rifles, what do we torque down?

We torque everything to be consistant and prevent damage to some parts.

Do a search on torque Recomendations and you will find all the information you need.

Well, speaking of, scope rings etc, i was really talking about reciever related torque....

Are you talking about the barrel to receiver torque ?

The torque on receivers is listed as 35 foot pounds to 95 foot pounds with just light oil on the
tenon. If anti seize is used then the max torque should be backed of at least 20 ft/lbs.

A lot of smiths use around 60 ft/lbs on all but the largest calibers.

It is really a judgement call just don't go under or over these limits.
