Re: Pressure question?

RidgeRooster, You are using an awfully fast powder in Varget for your SAUM. Yes, the books shows it can work, but a slower powder will probably give you similar velocity with less pressure signs. Just a thought based on your case capacity.

Re: Pressure question?

I may play around with a few more powders after I get back from an Alabama Deer hunt this month. I loaded up 30 rounds yesterday so that I could sight in the scope I am going to use (used an 8-32 power for load developement) and have a few for the hunt. Loaded 60gr Varget behind the 150BT, and shot 10 rounds to get my zero perfect. These 10 rounds were shot from a totally clean bore, with no pressure sighns other than the slight cratering and 1/2" accuracy. This was the most accurate powder in the Nosler manual for this bullet weight, but was not even listed in my Hornady, Lyman, or Speer reloading manuals.
I as well as a buddie of mine, have had very good luck with the Nosler manual as far as accuracy and velocity being pretty much right on the money.

Talking Re: Pressure question?

I know this is an old topic but Cat Shooter really helped me out with the question I had about gap cratering. Fiftydriver also gives a good explanation. (on other threads)

Just thought I'd give them a shout and say thanks.
