Yea, I made it to the top. Comming down was much worse. Rugged hunt for an old fella like. Had a great time, Joel was a pleasure to hunt with. Had great guides and everybody got along just fine. Would do it again. Gotta rest up a bit goin' to CO on Oct 20th for elk.
Saw plenty of sheep, probably around 150-200 for the hunt. The Caribou season has been closed in this area for years and we saw some monster bulls.
No bears on this trip, think they're afraid of me.
On the last day I lost the horse I was riding to a freak accident. She was tied off in the willows, got turned around and stepped over her lead. She slipped or something may have startled her, when she went down the lead pulled her head back between her legs. It was instant, no sign of a struggle. I tend to get attached to my ride in a short period of time, this bothered me alot.
And for the grand finale, we missed our bus outa Tok. It was either walk or hitch hike to Anc. But we lucked out, found the only U-Haul van in the area. We had a ride and with speeds approching 90 we made our flight with 30 minutes to spare.
If ya can't find a kid to take huntin', an old fella will do !!
