Re: NO. 1 scope mount?

Your going to get alot of opinions here, but they are going to be just that....opinions.

I run a Nightforce 20MOA base with Burris Xtreme Tacticle rings on a .300WSM and I really like the set up. Its rock solid.

Alot of people like the Talley one pice base/ring combo also. Im thinking about getting one for my new .223

Re: NO. 1 scope mount?

Warne mounts for me.
I destroyed two sets of Leupold rings on my 300 mag.
Get steel base and mount. Nightforce, Talley, Warne are all really tough. 1 piece base is important in a 700 action.

Re: NO. 1 scope mount?

I cant comment on which is best, but the NF rail and rings are very strong and that's what I ahve on my 300 RUM. I did notice the the scope slipped forward until the rear bell was up against the rings. I need to call NF and ask how to deal with this.

Re: NO. 1 scope mount?

On this site I would expect to get many recommendations for "tactical" style rings & bases. I've got them too and they are very strong and work great.

However, my favorite ring & base combo for non-tactical rifles is the Burris Signature rings w/ plastic inserts and their bases. The Signature rings can solve/prevent many problems while introducing none. I have never had a scope slip in Signature rings.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: NO. 1 scope mount?

For a tactical rifle, I like the Seekins. I have a 20 MOA base and rings.....and they look great! The folks at Seekins are great to deal with, and they were very prompt to ship my last minute order so I could make it to the field in time!
