nightforce made in china??? - no -

I recently purchased a nightforce scope. On the underside it reads "made in china". I was under the impression they were american made. Whats up????

EDITED BY LEN BACKUS, PUBLISHER
If you read further down the thread you will see this "China" idea was disproved.

Most of the parts are made in Japan and then assembled in Idaho. Where did you buy it? If I were you, I would call Nightforce.

Just spoke with a friend that purchased his nightforce from cabelas. His has "made in Japan" stamped underneath at the eyepiece. Mine may say Japan also, I was thinking it said china. Find out when I get back home and can look at it again. Thanks for the responses guys.

Friend of mine living in Idaho is a retired LtCol and was more than disappointed when he received his Nightforce and saw "made in Japan" on the tube. We had both thought they were "made" in Orofino, Idaho where the company is located. So I bought a Leupold instead. They really are made in America.

Sorry very few leupolds are made in the USA anymore, some of the high end stuff is but the vx1 and vx-II line were outsourced years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if more of it has been since I quit carrying them 4 years ago.
