So I have all ends covered, I am just wanting to add to the collection of Big Calibers in something a little lighter then the 18 plus pound Edge I just finished.
I'd probably go for the 300 Rum then in something along the lines of a Sendero Package.

Even with a 36oz scope on top of mine it weighs in at around 13.5.bs. Heavy enough to be plenty steady on long range shots and light enough to be tolerated on a long carry.

How do you like your .325wsm? I'm considering building an upper in it for the AR for a real serious500-800yd hog buster.

Re: Next build help

Go with a Kirby Raptor in a 338 AX or AM. Raptor Stalker 12 to 13 pounds.

The 325 is great haven't killed anything with it but whitetails, but it really hits them with a meaning lol
It would be a great rd out of the AR

Thanks for info I have been thinking about the 300 RUM also.

Re: Next build help

what about a lightweight .338 RUM? not much diffrence from the edge but it is diffrent and is a really nice round. If your going custom I would go for the .338 Norma and lose 2 inches of barrel and have one heck of a handy, high horse power rig.

Re: Next build help

This is an ultra light weight rifle we helped a guy put together. He likes to run to his hunting spot.

Here's the list:
Lone Wolf Summit------------------------------14 oz
#3 pac-nor fluted-------------------------2 lb 6 oz
Lupuy ultralight scope 2-7x28----------------8.2 oz
Titanium Actions from X-Treme---------1 lb 4oz
Timney trigger-----------------------------------2 oz
Surgeon dbm------------------------------------6 oz
BAT Matchines scope rings-------------------2 oz

Total-----------------------------------------5 lb 10.2 oz

Pick your caliber and go at it.

I thought long and hard about the 300 Rum for at least six years.

The only mistake I made was waiting six years to "pull the trigger".

I really can't tell you honestly whether I like shooting it or the .260 AR more.

That says a lot.

I definitely still love my 7mm STW though and I've decided that when the budget allows I'm going to rebarrel and rebuild with a longer/heavier barrel and probably an M-40 A1 modified stock.

If I can find a way to for sure make the .325 run well in AR Mags sooner or later that's definitely high on my list to do. Everyone needs one or two "bastard calibers" don't they?
