new rifle

I got a new Remington 700 varmint in 22-250 the other day and finally got a chance to shoot it today. I was shooting some factory Hornady ammo and was getting around 3/4 moa at 100. I cant wait to do some load work for it! I am pretty impressed with this rifle. Ryan

Re: new rifle

This is where you post a pic! Sounds good. I'm getting into a 22-250 here next week hopefully. Plan on using the Hornady 53grn V-max.

Re: new rifle

This is the Remington 700 sps with a 26" barrel topped with a Nikon monarch 3-12x42 and Leupold 1pcbase and rings I didnt get a pic of the groups. The bc of that 53 grain looks pretty good I was using their 50 grain v-max

Re: new rifle

I have the same gun in a 243.win with vortex 6.5-20x44mm on top. Now this set up didn't cost me much but holy crap is it a shooter! I haven't gotten it past 630 yards but it stays under Moa with factory ammo! I tired reloading for it but it didn't improve much from the factory ammo. Shoots the factory ammo at less then .5" at 100 yards. One of my favourite guns I own. Eventually will upgrade it, new stock and trigger, barrel and I'll bed it

Re: new rifle

Those 53Vmax bullets are awesome. They're all I shoot in my .223AI BUT I highly doubt you'll be able to shoot them in your new 22-250, unless it has a faster twist barrel than what it came with from the factory. Factory Remington 22-250's all have 1-14twist barrels and you need atleast a 1-12 or better yet 1-10. There has even been reports of guys not getting the 53Vmax to work in there 1-12's.

You'll be better off staying with the 50's or maybe try loading some 52Amax but even those could be iffy in a 1-14tw barrel.

Nice looking rifle, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with it.
