Re: New to the forum and new project

Update - finished the Cerakote (great stuff) and broke in the barrel. Shot a .540 group with factory Remy 180gr stuff @100 - can't wait to get the Bergers through it! I still have some finishing to do on the stock, my adjustable cheek piece should be here this week to help with the scope height. My 13 year old son loves it, the brake takes all the sting away. So far so good

Re: New to the forum and new project

You should be very proud as it looks like a great piece of work!

I've made three stocks in my life from blanks. Most people will never appreciate the amount of work that goes into such a project.

From your range report it sounds like you are going to have a lot of years of precision shooting enjoyment coming your way.

Welcome.

First groups handloading - I'm excited! 100 yds, 3 shots, bipod and rear bag from the ground. Not at max yet. I may stop for this kind of accuracy! I haven't chrono'd it yet, if I'm over 3K I'll stop.

Don't mess with it until you take it out further! Unless of course you don't get the speed you want.
