I'm not recoil shy but I do have disk problems in my neck and they don't need undue agrivation.
My 300WM I only use for stationary hunting too so I don't care what it weighs, currently it's 13.25lb unloaded.
I too have a plate and screws in my neck and my Tikka Lite in 300 wsm causes me problems, I want to switch to a Rem 5R in 300 win with a break, I will wear ear protection, but I need to know the smallest most effective break, I will probably be buying the 5R 300 win with 24 inch threaded barrel.

I put a titanium Elk Meadow brake on my 24", theaded, 5R 300WM. I never sent my rifle out. The brake was stepped down to the dimension of the barrel and supplied with turned, peel washers so I could index it. It took about 10 minutes to line it up. I intended having it eventually turned, but the seam is barely noticeable, so I haven't bothered. It is one of the better brakes I have used. No dust signature, little blast, and less recoil then my companion 308 5R with no brake. It's worth looking into.

Re: Muzzle brake on a 300 Win Mag?

I recently put a Badger FTE brake on my 300 win mag. I had no idea it would reduce felt recoil as much as it does. It has lighter recoil than my 308. The noise also is not bad with proper ear protection. Great investment, great way to start a New Year!

Happy New Year!

Re: Muzzle brake on a 300 Win Mag?

As I mentioned on this thread my Browning A-Bolt has a BOSS muzzle brake that came with it.

But for my long range competition rifle (HS Precision .300 Win. mag.) I'm getting a muzzle brake/suppressor combination. I'm now trying to find out which titanium suppressor has the best muzzle brake.

I will literally pay someone to close this thread..someone, anyone, please...all the possible brakes and opinions for that matter have been stated...I just may jump off a cliff if I see another response
