McMillan A-5 stock

Looking at a McMillan A-5 stock what is that hook or cut out in the bottom for, just behind the pistol grip ?

    It's also widely used for the non-trigger hand (the web between your index finger and thumb) when shooting prone.

    Long range shooting is a process that ends with a result. Once you start to focus on the result (how bad your last shot was, how big the group is going to be, what your buck will score, what your match score is, what place you are in...) then you loose the capacity to focus on the process.

    From their website, IRT the MSC-T5A and T5; "It also has a butt hook that can be used to ride the bags or control your rifle with your non-trigger hand." JohnnyK.
