400 yds isn't too bad for a hold over. I shot an antelope at 425 yds once holding over. If it were me, I would zero that 7 WSM a little farther out if I didn't have a dial in scope. Not at all trying to tell you what to do, just sharing my opinion FWIW.

Good shooting and let us know how your 7 WSM shoots. I've gotten real good velocities with RL17 in my 300 WSM and Nosler E-Tips. About 3200 fps which is 200 fps faster than I was getting with H4350 or factory ammo.
