Which Long Range Low Light Scope?

I have narrowed it down to either a Leupold VX-3 4x14x50MM or a Nikon Monarch X 4x16x50 MM. Both have 30MM tubes

If anybody has experience with these 2 scopes I would appreciate any tips.

Best,

Dee

Have no exxperience with the Nikon. Have had a large number of Leupys including the 4.5 x 14 x 50. That is an excellent scope. I think the Varix III is the best scope available for the money.

How do you propose to shoot LR with these scopes? Dial in or hold over?

No experience with the Nikon, but the new VX3 has a different lens coating that gives it a bump compared to the old VX-III (which I still like for low light).

    Montana,

The Longest Shots where I hunt are 400 yds max. Sighted in at 200 will require holding over 17". (7MM WSM-24" tube-160 Gr. Accubond) I'm o.k. with that.

I'll shoot out to 500-600 yds. when practicing and would need to dial in the adjustments at that range.

I have been using the VX-3's, but not that particular scope.
    No experience with Nikon.
I would go with the Leupold for sure if it was me.

Ernie- when are you going to post your optics review?
