Long Range Coyotes

I spent ½ a day shooting coyotes with a 338 RUM pushing 160gr TXS’s…. PAINFULL ! After 13 shots my ears/shoulder hated me… I was used to being able to manipulate my position to best kill coyotes, and not worry about my shooting form. I had to really pay attention as recoil is too great to be sloppy, making it sometimes hard to pull off unconventional shots. By lunch time I walked back to my truck and finished my hunt with a 243 WSSM. Would I use a .338 for yotes again? For sure!!! But not on a regular basis.

A 25/06 improved or banshee... With a 8x32 x 40 to 50 scope would be the ticket.

Thompson center g2 or encore - bushness elite 4200 scope... Handloads..

There was a rancher just outside of helena having some coyotes ( some with mange ) messing with his cattle so we took out the 300 win mag ( his ) and my 300 rum with 190 berger vlds. we shot 3 coyotes in a half hour without doing any calling. From 150yds to 530 to 1050 yds . I did miss the first shot at 1050 just barely but got him on the next . Since trying to get the furs was out we figured we might as well get the big gun practice in. you know practice makes perfect...and alot of fun to.
