Long Range adjustments

In shooting long range ( hunting) lets say out to 1000 yards with todays popular scopes, would you want a scope with 1/8 min adjustments or 1/4 . I can see the advantage of 1/8 clicks to get dialed in at longer yardages , but more turns and maybe less MOA of elevation. What's the advantage and dis-advantage 1/8 vs 1/4 adjustments

I prefer 1/4 moa. It is what I am use o and easier for me to figure drop and windage that way. My pda program is in 1/4 moa as well so it all gives. I think when you look at the upper end scopes for extended range shooting, you will be narrowed to either 1/4 moa or Mil Rads.

1/4moa at 1000 yards is 2.5". That is plenty fine adjustment for big game hunting. 1/8" clicks just means twice the clicks needed, more numbers to remember...

I know that 1/4 MOA is easier but I prefer 1/8 Min klicks because at long distance It is more precise when shooting at very small targets.

More important is the ammount of MOA built into the scope.

Most all of the good target scopes and iron sites have 1/8 min adjustments.

For hunting larger game the 1/4 min sites are ok.

Stick with the 1/4moa on a hunting rifle. I had 1/10moa on my Leupold and it was a pain in the butt trying to keep count of the revolutions (only 6moa per turn). The 1" adjustments @ 1000 are nice for a target rifle.

I sent the scope in to have them changed from covered target turrets with 1/10moa to M-1's with 1/4moa. They forgot to change the adjustments to match the turrets and that was a huge PITA trying to count 249 clicks out to 1000yards! It just went back, for the fourth time in as many trips to the range!

Tell me guys, how do you go through three $1500 "Tactical"scopes and have to send a $1100 Leupold back four times in a under a year? Yet, my $300 SS just keeps on keeping on.
