Do they not? Or do you not know?

I shot the 140 NABs out of a 27" Lilja barreled Winnie @ 3200. Could be more but simply don't think the winnie was meant for more than that. Running RL-22.

I've got the BT's at 160 gr class, I have a bunch loaded and ready to rock n roll but between looking for wolves, wind and my time off I haven't had a quality day to take them out at range but they are sitting on my wifes counter and I'm sure she'll soon provide the motivation to get rid of them

I'm shooting the 165 Matrix sub MOA for 5 shots including cold bore at 1435 yards in my WSM so I think I can run a very good BC comparison between the two if I can ever get a day!!

I haven't measured the bullets and calculated stabilization.
..or tried them long range or on game yet.
I simply ran out of time before hunting began and had plenty of dope on other rifles.

But, they were definitely clover-leafing at 100yds out of my Shilen 1:10 twist FN M98 Mauser 270 Win. That seems to imply that they were stabilized or the harmonics were just right. I beleive I was using h4831sc, cci br2 primers, and nosler brass. Velocity was lower than hoped for, but never got up to any signs of pressure. So, I intend to try another ladder.

I'm cautiously optimistic and will wring them out as time permits.

There are of course multiple successful strategies for mid/long range including lower velocity with higher BC and lower BC with higher velocity.
It's nice to have options.

The good news is that they can both be successful in the right circumstances.

Re: Long Range .270 Build

Everything we shoot the Matrix out of is a 1-10 twist and they do fine, I'm at 6000ft elevation which helps. The 165's should do fine at lower elevations in a 1-10, when I ran the numbers they were OK. I shoot the 175's in a 1-10 twist 270 WSM and they are stable at my elevation but I would guess they might not be lower.

Re: Long Range .270 Build

Well if I choose to try some, I'm going to try H1000, Ramshot Magnum, Re22, and maybe even Retumbo with such a big bullet. I'm thinking as full of a case with Retumbo as I can get in there and compress it. Will work up of course.

VV N165 and 170 may be options as well.

H1000 and 7828 in the 270 win seems to do well, the WSM digs Retumbo!!

Re: Long Range .270 Build

I don't have much room to keep and use many powders.
So, I just went with what I had on hand.

I'm at 500ft and no problem stabilizing 165's with 10 twist.
