At long last got my Lapua

Finnaly after waitng since march my 110ba in 339 LM has shown up. Got the bipod and scope put on it almost instantly, like a little kid on christmas morning I am right now. Hopefully my "honey-do" list isn't too long and I'll get a chance to try it out this weekend. Think this is the first time I have ever hoped for rain, can't do my outdoor chores if it's pouring so I might as well go shooting is the line I'm gonna try on her

Re: At long last got my Lapua

Not much for elk hunting around here, moose is the primary hunt in these parts. Well for me anyways. I do have a cow elk draw this year but it doesn't start till February and it's a 150 miles or so North from here so I have some time to get some practice in on the gun first before I try to put it on a meat target. Got it too late inthe year to try for a long bomb on a moose this year, want to get very comfortable with it first. I have a Millet 6-25 x 56 on it for now. Have a Sightron SIII 8-32 x 56 that needs to be paid off to go on it soon hopefully

Well I hope that you get your moose, its a great fast way to fill a freezer !

I like both of those scopes, either will do for me, but its going to wait awhile.

Re: At long last got my Lapua

As an update I just got back from the range for my first try with my new toy. All I can say is wow, what a blast. A plastic surgeon couldn't wipe the grin from my face right now. The accuracy out of the box on this gun astonished me. 1st 2 shots were pretty much one hole, was only 25 meters to get it on paper so I didn't think too much of that. Went to 100 meters and got the same thing, just 1 hole about 2 calibers wide with 3 rounds. Went to 200 meters and started smashing, and I mean smashing the 4" gong with virtually every shot. I though that my 358 Norma hit that gong hard, this thing is in a completly different class all together. The other huge surprise was how little recoil this gun has. It kicks way less than my .270 win does. I fired 45 rounds out of it today and feel nothing at all from it other than joy. At this rate I see myself buying h-1000 by the dump truck load I think All in all I would have to say that it was worth the wait. Need to try to stretch it's legs a bit and see if I stay as consistant with it and maybe I will try to fill a tag with this year after all.

Re: At long last got my Lapua

great stuff......i have had mine for about 3 months here in New Zealand...it too shoots great...i have modified the scope rails to remove the unused side and forward picatinny rails, and topped it with a mark 4 leupold 8-25 power.

i used it for the first time hunting in the weekend and had a blast. 4 Fallow deer 220, 723,747 and 807 yards. all one shot kills with 300 grain SMK's.....we also carried out some culling on a herd of wild goats with many more kills out to 900 yards.
