Long gun case needed ? Any ideas ??

I am looking to purchase a reasonably priced rifle hard case that will have an overall length to suit between 54 -60 ". Can anyone suggest what to look at ? It is mainly being used to air freight a rifle from the US to Australia. It does not want to be crazy heavy and it must be deep enough to suit a 56 obj scope. Any suggestins would be appreciated.

Thanks all

Try one of Cabela's aluminum Blackpowder Rifle cases.
Here is my new rifle getting all packed up for transit to Shawn Carlock for assembly. That's a 30"+ barrel blank taped to the barrel. My scope is a Nightforce 5.5-22X50 and the case has enough room for a 56mm objective. I would rather have a Hardigg case but they don't make one this long for rifles, or at least I was unable to find one.

Thanks so much for your thoughts. That looks like one hell of a stick !! My rifle is at Defensive Edge as well ! What Calibre are you going with. I like the Mcmillan stock. We also have the same thoughts on scopes as well !!

Would you consider this case relatively light for its strength. The weight is only a concern for me with shipping costs ?

I think my new rifle is roughly 54 " overall with 30 " barrel and 1.5 " break ?

Thanks mate

Cabelas Case

We Had Problems In Alaska With This Case It Leaked During A Rain Storm While In Transit. I Am In The Same Dilemma. The Longest Waterproof Case I Found Is The Starlight Case With A Interior Dimension Of 52.5. I Took Measurments At A Angle An You Could Fit Roughly To 53.5. I Am Cinsidering Just Taking My Brake Of For Travel And Using This Case. It Also Has Wheels.

Well maybe we here at LRH need to send a barrage of E-mails to Hardigg and see if we can't get a case made to accomodate our longer than normal rifles. What do you think about this Idea? If they had enough people asking for them then maybe the demand would be great enough to get the ball rolling.
