Re: IDAHO STATE SNIPER CHAMPIONSHIPS

I run a 26 inch tube 1-8 twist Hart. i am really happy with the length weight etc. It is in a Sendero profile. I get 2820 fps, it will go faster within pressure but this was the best accuracy for me.

Shawn

Are you doing anything to your magazine for the long bullets? Or you loading them to mag length?

I started with 142's, found accuracy at 2750 fps with 43.0 gr of H-4350. What charge and primer do you use?

260

Re: IDAHO STATE SNIPER CHAMPIONSHIPS

Shawn , what sort of barrel life do you expect to get with the 260 over say a 308. I'm at ods now between the 308 shooting the 155gr Lapua's and the 260 shooting the 123's
My max range is gonna be 600yds mostly 400yds and in the barrel is gonna be either a Rock or Broughton 5R style

Re: IDAHO STATE SNIPER CHAMPIONSHIPS

260 & JDJ,

I use an HS Precision box mag setup it allows for an oal of 2.850" and I use it all. I cut the chamber for +.010" at that oal. I use the 140 AMAX or the 142 Sierra with 43.0 gr of H4350 and a Fed BR primer. Iuse the heavier bullets for the potential of 1000 at a match. The combo works great out to that distance but 1000-1100 is about the top of the teeth. There is no question in my mind that the 260 is an advantage over the 308 in almost every application.

Re: IDAHO STATE SNIPER CHAMPIONSHIPS

Thanks Shawn

I shoot BR2's and the 142's have a longer bearing surface that could explain the difference in velocity. I'm sure the altitude has much to do with it also. I'm at 500 ASL.
