IB 180gr or 168 VLD

My 300 WSM shoots the 180 IB and the 168 VLD 1''groups at 200 yards. For long range hunting which one would be a better choice out to 600yards on Deer,Elk,Antelope.

Either one will get the job done if you do your part. The BC is pretty much the same and at 600 yds or less is not gonna matter too much. If I HAD to choose between the two, I would go with the heavier bullet for more energy. You should try the 180 gr Barnes or the 185 gr Berger sometime.

The IB is a great hunting bullet. I've used them on everything from Coyotes to 500lbs plus hogs and everything in between.

I've always gotten very consistent controlled expansion with them even on deer at long range.

More often than not I consistently get a 1.5-2" exit wound with great destruction of vitals in the middle.

I've shot them mostly in the 7mm Rem and 7mm STW at pretty high velocities. At lower velocities you might be better off with the Nozler Accubond, or Swift Sirocco.

The Swift has become my go to bullet of choice for the long range work.

The Accubond and Interbond are very similar bullets and I think if you'll look between the two the AB has the better BC, generally about even with the Scirocco's in the same caliber/weight but I prefer the Sirocco on the long range work due to better expansion.

I've tried the berger 185 and 190 the best i could get was about 3'' at 200 yards

I would just use the interbond then. Its a good bonded bullet and will do the job for you.

I will second the vote for the IB, my research tells me that the light for caliber Bergers may not be the best idea at "short" range. Just not enough mass for those close range/high velocity shots. The 185+ range is really where the Bergers shine.

The IB boasts a better BC (marginal I know), as well as a bonded core/jacket & more weight for added punch. In your situation, the IB would be an easy choice for me.
