Well ive been tuning up my Savage .308 model 11/ Nikon Monarch 4-16-50 bdc and my DPMS .308/Nikon Pro staff 4-14-40 bdc for deer season. Took them both to 425 yards and then took my DPMS to 525 yards. Now im not getting 2" groups or anything (Yet) but I was hitting center mass on the target. Like the title says its a start. Im stoked!
I think i can go out to about 600 yards and then im going to have to spring for a good scope. Ive been considering the usual suspects Nightforce, Meopta, Vortex etc.... but im also considering the Burris Eliminator lll. Anybody have one or used one? Impressions?
My hunting partner and I start about this time every year gearing up for deer season and we always ask the other guys in the hunt club if they would like to come as well and their answers are always the same. "Im not rich I cant afford to practice." These are also the same guys who complain that We either shot all the big Bucks or they complain that they couldnt find the Big Buck they shot (im leaning towards they didnt hit the deer to begin with.) My partner and I have been top dogs in the club for 3 years and it pisses them off but we take our hunting serious and they obviously dont. I dont think they could hit a deer past 100 yards. LOL.
Im not bragging im just stating the obvious which is practice does matter.
