Hunting Scope

Besides S&B because its out of my price range of $2000 at the most. What do yall feel is the best hunting scope out there. Its goin on a .300 RUM i hunt in louisiana where most long shots are 300 yds but can shoot 500 yds but not alot of tge time. But once a year i go to Nebraska were 300 yd shots are a norm and 500 yd shots can be pretty frequent. So what do yall think would be the best fit!?

Night Force, Bushnell Elite, Viper PST/Razor(top of your price range), Sightron

To 500yds 14-18x magnification will be more than enough. With the high dollar scopes, you could probably get away with the 10x. SWFA has an SS 5-20x HD that would be a good option also.

Leupold VXIII or Mark 4 4-14x50mm or NF 3.5-15 should give you all the scope you need for either.

You can spend more, go bigger etc but you don't need to.

I have a Vortex FFP and a Nightforce and for the money I really like the Vortex. With the mil rad. sighted in at 400 yards I can shoot 100 to 1000 without turning a dial! The ability to range find and aim on any power to me makes this a super hunting scope.Optics are not as crisp as NF;but last I checked I did not need to count hairs on a bull-just hammer him.

I'd be remiss if I didn't throw the IOR's out there as well. The 4-16 tactical model would be ideal for your purposes and once you learn to use the MP-8 reticule you'll be in love with it.

The way they do their illumination cannot be beat either and their glass is as good as any scope I've ever looked through.

I currently have the 4--14x50 30mm tube as well as the 6-24x50 35mm tube and like them well enough that my next scope will be the new 3-28x56 40mm tube.

I love my Leupold VXIII's and Mark 4's but I like the IOR's overall better than anything I've ever owned or tried.

They also make some straight 10x and 16x models that would work very well for your needs for a good deal less money.
