Re: Help with drop chart please

I tried the Eskimo progam. It seems to be pretty good. My load is:

.308
44.5 gns Varget
175 SMK MOLY
2640 FPS

Am I right that the drop is 153 clicks at 1000 with a 100 yard zero?

Thanks for the help,

CC

P.S. - OBSESSED, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. Sorry.

I have never used a trajectory program. All my drop charts come from range work. The programs might save me time and bullets! What is the drag function. What should I use for the SST bullet in 270cal or the SMK. Thanks

Harv: On the Barnes program we need to know and I assume the other programs are the same, The BC of the Bullet, Weight (grs) etc. to do the calculation.

I dont have time right now to do clicks but if it helps,

bullet drop in inches divided by (.250*Range/100)

    Eg. 500 yards/100=5. 5*.250= 1.25 -40" at 500 yards/1.25=32 clicks

    Hope that helps

Long range shooting is a process that ends with a result. Once you start to focus on the result (how bad your last shot was, how big the group is going to be, what your buck will score, what your match score is, what place you are in...) then you loose the capacity to focus on the process.

    Obsessed,

Here is a chart with elevation (1/4moa clicks) based on your bullet, velocity, altitude and temperature.

    RANGE clicks
    0 0
    25 17 3/4
    50 4 1/4
    75 3/4
    100 0
    125 1/4
    150 1
    175 2 1/4
    200 3 2/4
    225 5
    250 6 3/4
    275 8 2/4
    300 10 1/4
    325 12 1/4
    350 14 1/4
    375 16 1/4
    400 18 1/4
    425 20 2/4
    450 22 3/4
    475 25 1/4
    500 27 2/4
    525 30
    550 32 2/4
    575 35 1/4
    600 37 3/4
    625 40 2/4
    650 43 2/4
    675 46 1/4
    700 49 1/4
    725 52 2/4
    750 55 2/4

What a pain to post excel spreadsheets...
I am sending a spreadsheet attachment in an email to you with more data in an easier to read format.
