gun rebarrel

If I were to rebarrel a rifle to 30-06 what rifle would I use as a base rifle thank you for your time Chris

All you need is a long action, rifle brand shouldn't matter. Not 100% sure what your question is.

you would need a long action gun with a .473 bolt face. Like a 30-06 or 270 as a donor action.

What I mean is I want a 30-06 long range gun but I don't have $3000 for a custom. I see a lot of 308's and 300 mag LR guns can I recamber them to 30-06 I have a rem 7400 and a single shot both in 30-06 and Iam set up for the 30-06 so I want to keep it simple. I hope this clears things up thank you Chris

you won't beable to rebarrel a short action .308 to a long action 30-06 as far as i know, i do know that you can go the other way, 30-06 --> .308

you can, just have to single feed it and pull the bolt to extract a live one

I would buy a savage in 30-06 and see how it shoots. More than likely you will like the accuracy for the price. If and when you want more accuracy you can buy a new custom barrel that will thread right on your action.
