Re: Got My first real long range rifle 300 Rum need help !

I haven't tinkered with the Bergers in mine yet, but I was able to load up a pretty solid load with 200gr Accubonds and 93gr of Retumbo. As always, work up to this load. I can actually get over 94gr without pressure signs, but haven't had a chance to check the accuracy of that load yet. I'm getting just under 3,100fps on my current load.

Not a problem to shoot 180's to a K. I use 168 Bergers in my 308 further than that so your good to go

I shoot the 215 Hybrid. I agree with some of the other posts. If you have the horsepower why not shoot the 215 or the 230. The 215's shoot awesome by the way. Also was the easiest bullet to develop a load for.

Beeman, what load are you using at what kind of numbers are you seeing? Are you loading it out close to the lands or to fit the magazine? I have been considering the 215's, but it seems like everyone loads them as a single shot instead of magazine length, which is what I would prefer to do.

I am shooting a fairly mild load of 91 gr H-1000. I have no pressure signs and is very accurate. I still have a stock Sendero barrel and my speed is 2985 fps. Have shot out to 900 yds and drops confirm that speed. I load it as a single shot. I started 15 thou off the lands. I remeasured not long ago and my throat has eroded another 30 thou. So now I am 45 thou off the lands. Accuracy has not really changed. Another benefit of the hybrid design. I would try some 215's at mag length and see how they shoot. When I started load development I did it according to Berger instructions and started I think 100-120 thou off and worked my my down to around 10 off. seemed a little better at 15 thou off so that is what I settled on. Through load development nothing shot over a inch at 100 yds. Overall I think a very forgiving bullet. Now it is time to find a new barrel for next season. Think I am going to go 300 Win Mag this time.
