first speed goat

My kid got back from his first antelope hunt. He and some of his buds went out to eastern montana for opening day. He shot a buck and a doe, the buck measured 14 3/4 inches and was going away at 280 yds. the doe was at 100 yds and at full speed. He said he had a great time and wants to go again. I'll try to get the pic to post. He hates his pic taken.

Re: first speed goat

They had an arsenal out there! He shot his buck with a passed down 270 win on a mauser action my dad built about 40 years ago from sears components (back when everything at sears was ted williams). I think he used his buddy's 7mm mag on the doe and now he wants one. I don't know the load on the 7mm but the 270 was 150gr speer boattails ahead of 51 gr imr 4350, not smoking but good enough to get the job done. they shot some coyotes out there as well plus every can and box they had.
