Re: Device to run ballistic program
I picked up a Dell Axium from e-bay for $45 it came with a leather pouch i stylus and 1 battery & charger . It has worked very good for me . only complaint is that i haven't purchased the big battery that jarhead has already mentioned . the pelican case is a must .

Re: Device to run ballistic program
I have a Verizon HTC Droid Incredible on order and will install a program called Shooter (full version $10) as my first program. The reviews look good and it does what I need, plus pulls in the data from the GPS and local weather stations.

Re: Device to run ballistic program
Many thanks for the input! I will look for an Axim on E Bay and see whats available. I hesitate to do the Droid because of the big jump in monthly fees ,for all those bells and whistles.I have the minimal pay plan now, it would probably double with the Droid. The Axim would be a one time shot....I'll look at Verizons website for the hell of it, to see how much that would cost me. I've got friends that have them, they are nice.

Re: Device to run ballistic program
Been looking at E Bay, there's a bunch of them for sale. Not sure which one would do for my application? Among the three: X50 X50V and the X51V? There's a few of the X51V's with the 6.1 update in the $180.00 range. Processor speed is the same for the X50V and X51V, Just as well off with the cheaper X50V?

Shawn Carlock advised me to use at least a X50. I would say the newer version is faster, but a computer guy I am not.

I second the HTC phone idea....I have my HTC Touch Pro 2 setup with Exbal, OziExplorer (gps software u can upload your own maps and calibrate), and TomTom......one device to get me to the hunting grounds, navigate the hunting grounds and create on the spot data for shooting.....used to have three devices...
