I took Shawn and Bob's class last year and it was a real eye opener. Right away that next week (and the rest of the summer) I went back to the hills and put several hundred rounds through the barrel to reinforce what they taught me.

I took those same techniques and taught my 15 yr old boy, that fall he dropped his first bull elk at 940 yards. Thanks Shawn & Bob!!!!!

And lastly, guys, I would strongly encourage ya'll to get out as soon as possible and burn some rounds.

That's good advice. I shot last night and will shoot again tomorrow. That's pretty impressive shooting for a youngster.

how did the shooting go? was the outcome any different with the class under your belt?

I was all set to go shooting thursday morning but then remembered that Shawn has my rifle!! he is putting on a new recoil pad and some flush cups. Ive got others, but its just not the same!

We went fishing this weekend on the river and southpaw and I spent lots of time looking through the spotting scope at mule deer on the opposite hillsides. We werent focusing on the mule deer though.. we were watching the mirage!! even though we didnt fire a shot, we studied the mirage speed, direction, and how often it changed etc. it was a blast!

You know you are addicted to this crazy stuff when you find yourself at family outings trying to guess the wind. One day at a barbq, I found myself sneaking off to my truck grabbing my kestrel just to find out if my guess on the 12 mph wind was on or not...It was ten I think, but close enough.

Not sure about Sat, work is slowing down for me on the rental rahab, so I just need to look at the schedule. I still want to do some loading this week.

Dave Viers got the initial test results published on the sniperhide forum today. Oh my Gosh, this 414 gr is accurate. He says it's the most accurate load he ever shot. He painted a 2 inch group today at 1150 yards....I cant wait for my new gun.

We snuck out last week for one day and set up for elk. Saw a ton of fresh, I mean fresh sign on a hillside we plan to shoot at. We can see 4 different hill sides ranging from 750 yards to 1,250 yards.

Just a back up place for elk that is a close drive. Now it's time to go find some more. This long range stuff should be illegal.

If you don't mind me asking which class did you take? The beginner or the advanced class.. Hope to book with Shawn for this fall, coming down from the great white north and not sure which I need to take!! Can't afford the 4 dayer this year!! Any input would be great!!

Lamiglas: Great, see you in a couple of weeks..I shot again today. It's going pretty good. I am going to have to get some serious loading done soon.
SBriggs: We took the first one. I believe it is a prerequisite to the advanced. You would have to check w/ Shawn, however. I also think he is full this year.
