Daughters First Deer!

Not long range to us but, it might be for my daughter, Joelie.

I used several people to help me get the rifle fit right for my 3yr old daughter as soon as she expressed interest in hunting larger game. She has been shooting a custom 22 for a while and said she wanted to shoot a deer.

Well, several months ago I built the rifle and sent it to Shawn Carlock for a muzzle brake. Shawn then helped me work a special 223 load that generates decent velocity with ZERO recoil with is brake!

She has over 500 rds down the tube and I finally got her on a doe. It was only 47 yards but, she made a perfect shot and the doe went 20 yards and piled up. She is shooting a 55gr ballistic tip at 1800fps and it performed flawlessly and exited the doe.

Also for those that ask, she will be 4 in March so she is 3yrs and 9 months old!

Thanks Shawn!!!

I've got three daughters, between 5 and 7, and I'm just starting to teach them shooting. This is fantastic!! Gives me a whole pile of inspiration.

Congratulations to you and Joelie. That is a great pic!

That is fantastic. My daughter is 4 and 5 this coming september and I have just started her on an air rifle but for a little girl at 3 and 9 months to take her first deer - that is a fantastic achievement for both father and daughter. Well done

Q,

Glad to be of help on the project. I think that is just outstanding! The only problem I see here is it appears quite obvious that when she is older your going to have to keep a big stick near to run off all of the boys.
