Christensen Arms Rifles

Does anybody own one of these rifles or know of someone who does and if so how do you or they like them? I have heard a lot of good things about them but was surprised with all the knowledge here that I didn't see any discussion of them on this site. I was just curious. The rifles seem very lite at about 6.5 lbs with a bull barrel carbon wrap with shilen barrel liners and a 1/2" moa. They have a lot of custom options offered as well such as stocks, triggers, brakes.Any info would help as I am thinking of purchasing one. I am new to the site but have been reading and following for a few months now and think it's great. I have been getting into long range shooting over the last few years and so far my longest was my Alberta Antelope Buck 2 years ago taken with my Remington LSS 7mm Ultra Mag at a ranged 540 yards using 150gr Swift Scirocco's and 89.5gr of H1000. He dropped in his tracks and I was hooked. All the time spent at the range and the reloading bench payed off when it had to.

Re: Christensen Arms Rifles

I've known at least four people with Christensen rifles and not one of them was happy with the performance. I'm sorry I don't remember specifics.

Re: Christensen Arms Rifles

1 reason they dont excell, is they use Shilen bbls and the dont even bother using the top end Shilens to boot.

I have heard better things about ABS, although it is just what I have heard, but have heard alot of good things.

Long range shooting is a process that ends with a result. Once you start to focus on the result (where the shot goes, how big the group is, what your buck will score, what your match score is, what place you are in...) then you loose the capacity to focus on the process.

Re: Christensen Arms Rifles

for what they charge you can have one built and with a better barrel than the Christian and if done by a good smith will probably shoot circles around the Christian built gun

Re: Christensen Arms Rifles

I have see nquite a few and shot some and rebarreled some. I also have not ran into a single person that felt the rifle was worth it or was even reasonably happy with them. I agree with the other guys if light is what you want get a real rifle built to the weight desired by a smith with a top quality barrel of the profile you desire and you will be much happier.

Re: Christensen Arms Rifles

You would be better served by putting a Mcmillan stock and a new lilja barrel on your LSS. Maybe even a Heroin/Jewell trigger.
I call jewell triggers Heroin triggers because once you try one you are hooked!

You will save a bunch of $$$ too!

Get a good smith to true up the action and put the barrel and stock on and you will be WAY better than a Christensen or an HS precision, or those ridulous Blaser rifles.

Re: Christensen Arms Rifles

I agree with what already been said. I have never met a person totally satisfied with either a rebarrel or full custom gun from Christensen Arms. Get a known gunsmith( read Shawn Or Kirby) to rebarrel and straighten up your action and tune the stock stock trigger. You will be money and ahead and have a potentially better shooter.
