California deer hunting?

This is my second year black-tail deer hunting is California. Can anyone shed any light as to locations further south in the state e.g. San Bernadino/ Riverside area I've been heading into "A" zone which is Santa Barbara and Frazier Park, but I'm really tired of sitting in the traffic.
