Caliber overwiev

I'm new to this forum.. been reading it for a while now, but I'm interessted in the diffrent kind of calibers I can choose amongst. I will have to start to handload my own, and am not afraid of doing som nekking up/down of allready proven calibers. From what I have read the Norma or Laupa is the best cases you can buy, so I have to base my caliber from what they offer. Is there a site, where I can see what kind of possibilitys I have from necking up or down. I'm thinking of a long range cartridge, seldom used on big game, maybe a elk or two the next years, but really not sure.

So if anybody knows of some good links please post them here.

Check the Pac/Nor web site under wildcat calibers they list a few. I'm sure there are other places to look perhaps someone will chime in with them? Welcome to the forum there are some knoweledgeable folks hanging around here! They are generally quick to help new comers.

Pick up a book called "Cartridges of the World"
It has old, new and wildcats and should give you a good idea of what's possible...

    Re: Caliber overwiev

I was reading my post, and it was not completly what I had in mind.

    F.ex. The 260 is a 6.5mm in a 308case, 7-08 is a 7mm in a 308 case..

    What is f.ex. a 6.5mm in a 30-06, and a 7mm in a 30-06 case?

I have no ideea when they talk about a .280 and so on. Is there any site that explains what they use in all the necking up/down? Ex= 260 is a 6.5mm projectile in a 308 case?

I will look out for that book by the way... thanks!
