Which bullet for big game (300. win mag)

Is it smarter to reload Berger's for long range and then another bullet like the accubond for shots that are closer like 300 yards or will the bergers hold up at closer ranges.

my 2nd and 3rd choice would be these two bullets but WR would tell you my second choice doesn't exist

If your guns really likes them and you can get good accuracy I would definitely go with the 200 Grain Accubond. Hands down. Just a great all around bullet. Still has a .588 BC too. That is really good for a premium hunting bullet in my opinion.

They won't blow up on you at short range and they will punch through bone a long way out.

Interesting: I've yet to have a 210 Berger "blow up" on me even at close range on elk. They've penetrated well up close and soup up the vitals. As far as bone crushing, I've got a shattered chunk of bone hanging from the rear view mirror in my pickup from the bull I killed this year at just over 1K with the 210VLD, it was devastating and absolutely "bone crushing". Out of a 300 Win he won't be pushing the heavier Bergers fast enough to "blow up" anyway. But I don't know, these may not be a true hunting bullet.

This mirrors my experience too, as many already know.
I can honestly say I have tracked many elk and deer from some of the "Premium , True Hunting Bullets" penciling through with a tiny hole, some recovered some not. But never tracked one from a Berger VLD.

Use what you want, or have confidence in, it is a personal choice. But know how it works, what velocity , and where to place it for it to preform to its best ability.

And if you make a bad shot, "man up Nancy" it has happened to most all of us and none of us liked it.
