Backpack with buttstock holder. Suggestions?

There may be a better place for this post, but I figured I'd try here first, since the idea is hiking in and shooting long. I'm looking for a good backpack that includes the feature of holding your rifle off your shoulder.

I've seen them in videos and they look like they would work great for an upcoming hunt. Carry a rifle using a sling overtop back straps has always been a b!tch.

I see Cabelas has a couple of models. Any others worth considering? I need one that will carry my Swaro 65mm spotter, small tripod, basic daypack gear, motorola radio, camera, etc.

Thanks!

You might try one of the medium size Alice packs with a frame. My son wanted one for college, not real pricey either.Hangar 18if I remember right we paid $35.00 on e-bay and alot of other places they run $80.00+ without the frame

Len wrote up that exact pack idea a long time ago, it will be in the archives. Believe it is from Kafaru, not sure about that spelling. Remember he said the one he used was excellent.

okay Ian. Thanks for the lead Unfortunately, I can't find any topics or posts like that. I also can't get past the products screen on hanger 18 to find any packs on that site either. I'll keep searching, but I leave for Caribou hunting on the 18th!

Re: Backpack with buttstock holder. Suggestions?

Okay. I found the Kifaru web site. Thanks!

Since I will be hiking out from the tent camp during the days, and returning at night, I am wondering if I need the big one. The outfitter will haul out the four caribou my friend and I get to shoot. The LongHunter looks pretty big, but if I'm going to spend this kind of money on a pack, I'm thinking going to the Spike Camp unit might breed regret later when I really need something like the Long Hunter (not sure when). It seems a little small at 2300 Cubic inches...

Has anyone added the Gunbearer system to an existing pack? Does it come with the top quick release strap as well as the but stock cradle?

Re: Backpack with buttstock holder. Suggestions?

After looking them all over I think the Long Hunter might be too big and since the Siwash will carry 85% of the LH it might be the way to go. Did you look at the military ones?
Remember they do have a Lifetime warranty on them, that could help justify the costof any of them.
