Clicking to be able to use the center of the scope is always better if you can do it
Had my 308 out to a mile the other week, and actually made several close hits near my 14" gong
had 70MOA clicked up on my 22x NXS (maxed out with a 20moa base)
started by holding on the bottom hash and hit way short (that was 90moa total)
then dialed to 11x, so it was 110MOA to bottom hash, still low
had to turn it to 8x and hold bottom hash!!! and 1 hash left!
I actually didnt even have trouble seeing my own hits in 6-8" high alfalfa either -- just a little head sized POOF of dust about 5 secs later [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
would have been much easier on follow ups had i been holding center [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
Either way you do, holdovers will get you there if need be.
