Anyone use this smith?
I'm about to plunk my money down on my first custom rifle and wonder if it's appropriate to post gunmakers name and ask for members feedback on his quality.
I've been reading this website for awhile now and I'm hooked.
Thanks for the input

Post away. You'll get responses if anyone knows him or has done business with him.;)

I won't post anything negitive about anybody on an open forum as I find it only starts a big spitting match with guys cussing and fussing all over te place , But If hes good then I don't mind saying so. Their are alot of good smiths right here though , any particular reason you want to try this guy that you don't know anything about?

I plan on using Randy Selby [Randy's Guns] out of Wapiti Wyoming. I've spent time with him over the phone, like his suggestions and background.
I had decided on a 7STW but after spending so much time on this site have started to think that one of the 338's might be the ticket.
I 'm a die hard elk hunter [usually with a deer tag in my pocket also], but have been bitten by the mulie bug.
This fall I had to turn down a 370" bull two days in a row because of distance [700 - 800 yds] and made the decision to get with the program.
I've always been a 7mm fan, but am not closed minded. I do want to end up with a reasonable weight gun.

I am a big 7mm fan and thought I had to get a bigger bore rifle for elk but then I found this forum and had Kirby build me a 7mm Allen Magnum. You can go up on the front page and read the story. It will do a good job on an elk.
The rifle shoots a high BC 200 grain bullet at 3340+ fps. The rifle shoots better than 0.5 MOA and the last group I shot was at 1563 yards and it went 0.488 MOA.
Kirby Allen is "Fiftydriver" on this forum. You might as well just get in your truck and drive over to Montana and see him.
