If we end up near Cripple Creek Colo., I can see if my brother-in-law can get us a group rate discount at the Casino / Hotel where he works. I would need to know how many people and how many nights we would stay, so that he can clear it with his management. I would like to see this happen; there is aneed for this type of shooting opportunity.

I think we could be approaching my first post questions again?? If we are going to rent rooms wouldn't it be just as easy to rent the lodge. Give me a number of guests and what you guys would pay and I will present it to the owners.

What ever you guys decide is great and will be cool with me. But I don't see myself driving 14 hrs each way and renting rooms when I can shoot 2000 yards from my yard.

So like I said what ever fits the needs of you guys is fine as I would like to see it happen even if I can't attend.

Broz I just was throwing out some options on a place we could all shoot. In one of your posts you said the owners of the lodge didn't seem to interested. I also can shoot 2000+ yards in my back yard, the reason why I would drive 14 hours each way is to shoot with other lr shooters. I think seeing peoples different approach on the sport and different methods could save me a long time, money and possibly a trophy of a lifetime. I was just offering my ranch for use to help eliminate any logistical issues with a cool place to shoot. My ranch house is not a five star lodge but you can cook, have drinks and have a great place to bs about the days events.
I will start a different thread somewhere and if there are enough shooters close to my area and want to get together they can post it there.

No need to start another thread unless you want your own. I am fine with your ranch I was just stating I would probably make that long of a trip. I think getting enough people together might be a challenge so it is fine with me for you guys to plan it all here. To use the hunting lodge I started this with, we will just have to submit a plan and offer to them. They are just not familiar with the needs for this type of activity. But I will be glad to do what ever I can to help,, like targets and preparation as well as clean up.

Like I said , you guys just hash it out and see what will work best for the majority, if I can help I sure will.

Ok, lets pool our thoughts and preferences. Here are mine.

1: Distance to travel , I would drive up to 6 hrs one way.

2: I would prefer to camp and would bring my wall tent if needed along with some camp supplies like cook stone, cots and stuff.

3: I want to be able to get to 2000+ yards, but we would need to have targets at 6 or 700 as well and anywhere in between.

4: I would think 2 days would be plenty of shooting time and it would be nice to have more than one location to shoot with different field conditions.

So lets here your thoughts and where you will be driving from. Then maybe we can dial in on a central location on some State or BLM land?

Jeff.... I'd have to drive a minimum of 1000 miles to be in striking distance but thats ok. It's only gasoline, however...

I don't want to fly, I hate the TSA hassle.

I would prefer staying in some type of accomodations other than a tent, preferrably a lodge with a hot tub or at least a comfy bed. I spent too many yars as a Eagle Scout sleeping in the woods. I still feel the roots and rocks, even today......

If I attempted to shoot 2000 yards here (from my back yard), I'd probably go to jail......
