Re: Any 6.5 Creedmoor fans here?

I loved my first Creedmoor so much that I'm having Grit build me my first custom in a Creedmoor. My load was 41.5 grains of H4350 behind a 140 A Max or 140 Berger and both shot great.

I ran into a guy at the range that doesn't care about brass life (or safety in my opinion) and he was pushing the 142 Match King at 3100 through his Creedmoor and getting 2 or loads per brass. I still think his 3100 fps number was a little far fetched but his recoil seemed to be substantial.

For what it's worth, bergers shoot exceptionally well out of my 6.5 284. It's an honest .5 MOA rifle with 'em. They out shoot the Amax hands down. Best advice, experiment with everything you can get your hands on. The Amax is king in my .308. Find what works in your particular rifle. just my 2 cents

Re: Any 6.5 Creedmoor fans here?

Lost my post, so starting over( in case a double shows up)
Just rcieved a savage long range hunter in 6.5 cm and love it. Only brass avail was fac. Loaded hornady 120 a-max and it shot easy sub moa. Only bullets at fisrt wedd nos cust comps in 140.(not complaining, just wanted to start lighter) To my suprise, my first 3 shot group with reloads measured .125", and yes I used my glasses. Noslers over 43.5g varget. Also this was shots #10, 11, and 12 right out of the box. After shooting that group I promptly went home so I couldn't screw it up.
Since then I found berger 120g bt target and 130g vld target, alo nm g with some hornady 123g a-max. Hpoe to get back soon and I hope this beginers luck continues. Really pleased with savage and hornady for the great stuff. Also nosler.
Good luck with your new build and hope you have as good a time as I have. Spring in wi. has been very snowy and cold, but the f-class shoots in eau claire should start soon. Vld's will be tossed down range like a high tech snowball fight.
Thanks for letting me vent
Bla, bla, bla

Re: Any 6.5 Creedmoor fans here?

I realized I last posted back in October and have happily been shooting my 6.5 CM for three months, I have 550 rounds down the tube and I'm loving every minute of it!! I have a great load of 42.5 gr H4340 with federal 210M primers loaded to an OAL of 2.810" and shooting bug holes with the 140A-max.

I recently took two ibex on a population reduction hunt here last month and the 6.5 did the job

Here are some pics....

Re: Any 6.5 Creedmoor fans here?

I just got my Creedmoor back from the smith. I forgot how much I love pulling the trigger on such a light recoiling round that still shoots well at long range.

Most of my trigger time with the new gun has just been informal plinking, but last Saturday I broke away to test some loads. This was my last 5 shot group at 100 yards with 41.0 grains of H4350 and a 140 grain A Max.

Re: Any 6.5 Creedmoor fans here?

That's a great group and everyone I know with a 6.5 CM has one similar to their credit. This is quickly becoming my favorite cartridge, another thing I really like is due to the high BC bullets, my windage holds match very closely with my larger 30 Cal's throwing 210&230gr bullets.......almost like having one gun, I can shoot the 6.5CM with the same windage dope as my 30-378 for half the cost to practice.....I'm actually having another 6.5 built that will be my 9 yr olds first hunting rifle.
