Re: 820 Yard cow elk pics
I'm new here so I have stayed out of this issue with respect to your 820 yard shot. I have learned a lot from reading these forums and truly appreciate all the info I have retained in just a few short weeks. I just spent an hour reading the AR Forum and it is obvious there are several who don't agree with the concept of LR hunting. Being brand new to the forum, I don't yet have strong loyalities, but the information I have read hear indicates to me a high degree of both morality and skill. I would venture to say that a lot more animals are lost, per capita, by close shots than LR shots as described on this forum, but only because of the level of expertise involved by the shooters. If I had a nickle for every "he got away" story I have heard, at even under 50 yards, I could buy that new Night Force scope I would like to have. I don't like to play God and pass judgement. But, the information provided here, if coupled with practice and good judgement.....which I think comes from the whole process....leads to more humane hunting....and is a good thing. I am a peace maker by heart and hope we can all focus on the facts, suggestions, information, and encouragement to be better and more humane hunters, and your posted information on LR topics has done that for me. Keep it coming, and thanks again....for they shall inherit the earth. P.S. Excellent shot. It sounds to me like you have your act together and know your stuff. Sounds like you waited for the right conditions...no different than waiting for the buck to get out from behind the brush at 25 yards. Or, waiting for the doe at 10 yards to point something other that her rear end your way. Well done Mister Good Grouper.
