Re: Are 8-inch boots tall enough?

I have Danner Elk Hunter and love them and I wear gaters with them just to help keep out mositure and snow if in that type of weather this is second pair of Danners first pair was 10 years old.

kenetrek ! after total disappointment with my last pair of danners, I went to kenetrek and think they are on par or better than my mendel's. Danner just HAD to change after years of good boots, to bad.

another vote for the kenetrek!

I made the switch after burning up 2-3 sets of danners a year in the field. my kenetreks are now three years old have been resoled 2x. In the long run good boots save you money and lots of ache feet.

Since you don't prefer gaiters get the tallest boot you can find. I've found gaiters to be valuable even without snow. They are excellent lower leg protection and I haven't had even 1 single yellow jacket in my pants while wearing them. ( a serious concern in my neck of the woods, a dozen or so of those little monsters up my pant leg and my hunt is over for at least a day)

Thanks all! Feel'in the love here. I'm thinking maybe a set of gaiters is what I need.

Thanks again!

Re: Are 8-inch boots tall enough?

Gaiters, Gaiters, Gaiters. You will not be disappointed. They will end up being something you rely on. They make a world of difference. You mentioned Danners. I have a couple of pair but I do agree with the previous quote that the quality has gone down hill. I recently bought a pair of the Elk Hunters 10 inch 600g. They will keep you warm and are rugged but the tread is a horrible design. You get into any type of mud and your feet are going to weigh 15 lbs a piece. I would not recommend The Elk Hunters for the price your going to pay.I think a boot at that price range should perform on every aspect and it doesn't. Just my honest opinion.
