Bullets do different things to deer at different angles. The bullet that takes the deer perfectly behind the shoulders broadside does very little of this type of damage because it encounters so little resistance - small hole entering, destroys lungs (soft tissue), and slightly larger hole on exit. Same gun, bullet, and velocity at the angle you encountered and the bullet has much more resistance causing it to mushroom sooner and cause more substantial "shock wave" damage to the muscular and skeletal structure of the animal. IMO the bullet performed perfectly under the circumstances. I'll order some tomorrow!
