6mm rem 65 gr berger exploding ?
Has anyone else had this happen shooting the 65 gr berger at 3600 fps in my 6mm rem is this to fast for this bullet . Just went to the range and had 6 out of 20 PUFF and blow up . Bad batch or to fast any comments would be great thanks Jason

How fast is your twist? Is the barrel factory or custom? How many rounds down the barrel to date - any erosion yet?
Berger bullets do have a tendency to 'blow up' before making it to the target if they are being driven fast in a fast twist barrel or a rough barrel. I guess they have soft and/or thin jackets.

1-8 twist barrell . and only 500 rounds down the tube . Shoots the 95 grains with no problem at all . No erosion

Sounds to me like your over spinning them. A 1:12 is ideal for that light of a bullet. Berger recommends a 1:13. A more open twist would give you higher velocities and the bullet would stay together. IMHO

Hey Jason,
If you hadn't caught the recent press release, Berger recently split their product line between Hunting and Target bullets. The Target bullets had their jackets thickened, specifically to preclude this from occurring. In the future, you might try sticking to those designated for Target use if you're concerned about blow ups. There's a lot that goes into this; not just fast twists and high velocity. These factors can certainly aggravate the situation, but they're not the sole causes. Check our web site, www.bergerbullets.com for the specifics about each of the bullets in our lines.
