6mm/243 wildcats?

What is out there for 6mm/243 size bullets in a wildcat or improved round that people realy like?
Everyone knows of the 243 AI, and the 6mm-06 is an interesting cartridge to me but maybe a little large.
Is there aything comperable to a 243 AI out there? maybe something based on a 6mm round? guess I could jump up one cal. and look at the .257 pluss P or 25-06. But realy looking to stay in the 6mm size as I would like to get a 25-06 someday.
Let me know what you think
Thanks for the help

Re: 6mm/243 wildcats?

I think....that it's really hard to out 243 a 243...or a 243AI.

It's just a nicely balanced cartridge. I know alot of guys like the 6mmRem but a 243AI is a 6mmRem and it has none of the COAL issues when running long, high BC, bullets in a S/A. 243AI is about my 2nd favorite cartridge (223AI being #1) and I'm on my 2nd and planning a 3rd. All that being said, I just ran a piece of 25-06AI brass into my 243AI die and seated a 105VLD in it. The 6mm-06AI is a NICE looking cartridge but I don't know if it would be too much of a good thing,?, as the 6mm-06 is really right on par with the 240weatherby as it is. I've been considering doing a 6mm-06 just for the 115VLD, but we'll see.

6-284 seems to work well for many of us.

The 6-284 is so easy to do I'm not sure it really counts as a "Wildcat"....

Top notch brass. No extra dies to buy for necking down. Can be used in both a short and long action.

Heck, what's not to love about a 6-284 if you are looking for a hot rod 6mm/.243

I've heard good things about the 6x47 Laupa. I couldn't locate the thread I remember about this cartridge, go figure. Also check out the 6XC. Good luck.

There is also the 6mm Crusader. SenderoMan has one. I'm sure he'd be glad to fill you in. It's an improved 6mm Remington I believe.
