Re: Which 6mm/243 for new build?
Thanks guys, you have given me a ton of insight. At the moment after doing lots of reading and considering the suggestions I am leaning towards the 6X47 Lapua. I like the fact that I don't have to fireform, I can use Lapua Brass, Barrel life will be pretty decent, and it appears to be getting a good reputation for easy loading and accuracy. The 243AI is a close second right now.
So now here is two more questions. I am at 3500' in elevation, and want to know what twist rate to order. I know the 1-8 will stabilize the 105-107grn bullets, but will it work with the 115's running 3000-3100fps? It seems like a lot of guys are using 1-7.5" for the 115's. I am not dead set on the 115's, but it would be nice to have the option. My problem is I think all of the people that make pre-fit savage barrels only have 1-8 twist. Also finding one of these "pre-fit" makers with a 6X47 Lapua reamer is a little tough too.
Who should I order the barrel through and what twist if I get the 6X47 Lapua?
