Jay
Are you talking about where to get it Melonited, MMI Tru tec is one place and I found that Controlled Thermal Technology here in Phoenix does it. He does a lot of stuff for Ruger and McMillan Bros. He offers 1 day turn around. If you need any more info let me know and I will give you his name and number.
I am sure you can ceracoat over it.

I am researching the smae build you have just done and I have no experience with necking brass down. What type of dies are you using and what steps does it take to go from a fresh .270WSM to a 6.5WSM? Also I was curious how much your rifle weighs? Thanks and great looking shooter.

You should be able to run .270 brass through a 6.5 die in one pass. Be sure the neck diameter of your chamber will fit the resized brass or you may need to ream or turn necks.

I will try to weigh my rifle later. I used Lee 6.5 WSM dies for sizing the 270 brass down. Then I bought a Hornady 6.5 neck sizing die and bored it out to fit the fat short mag case to be able to just neck size the fired brass. If you decide to do that buy the die and send it to me and I will bore it out for you. It will be easier on your brass.

Hey Tarey, Thanks for the info, I have talked with Rodney @ mmi tru- tec last monday, and as soon as the Machining is done on the barrel its off for a salt bath. The way I look at it even if it only doubles the useful barrel life its worth the $60 it costs to have it done. I did read an artical where it was stated that a guy has put over 75000 rounds thru his 223 barrel and it shows only slight pitting in the throat. the reamer got here yesterday so I think by next week it should be on its way and couple weeks it might be up and running.
