Yrcan, that rifle looks great, and I love the stock, where did you find it? I would love to get a stock like that for my m595. At those high velocities which bullet do you prefer for deer, the ttsx or the ballistic tip?

Thanks for your interest in my stock. It is made in the US, my gunsmith imported it for me to Norway. i can ask him who makes it and post here.

I prefer the Nosler Accubond, it has good BC, and does not make a mess when hitting the deer. It makes a exit the size of a ping pong ball, and the surrounding flesh is pulverised.

280 AI... If you need something that recoils less you can handload down...

Re: 6.506 vs 280 AI using 140 gr bullets

If you must use 140s, the 6.5 is better, specially the 140VLD.

If you bump up to the 168 or 180VLDs in the 280AI it is a mean cat.

P.S. the 140VLD in .284" isn't bad by no means.

Tough call, I have both and like both. If splitting hairs the 6.5 has the best long range ballistics. The 280 the best close range ability on larger big game by shooting heavier larger caliber bullets. But both are so close and very good cartridges. No bad choice here.
Predictions are difficult, especially when they involve the future

Yeah, great cartridge.Mine have a 730mm barrel and shoot 139 gr scenars at 980m\s(3215fps) at 63000psi,123 gr scenars at 1045m\s( 3440fps) and 64500psi.Norma D.L 130gr moly travels at 1020m\s and 64800 psi. These are max loads and I reduse loads with a grain or so for long range shooting.I don't expect barrel to last more than 1000-1500 shots with these loads
